Printable endorsements for students.
These endorsements are based on FAA Advisory Circular 61-65J (AC61-65J)

PREREQUISITES FOR THE PRACTICAL TEST ENDORSEMENT


A.1 Prerequisites for practical test § 61.39(a)(6)(i) and (ii)

Used for checkride applicants.
If your applicant has lapsed more than 2 calendar months since last flight training/retraining, some DPEs will ask for this endorsement again.
This endorsement is also required if an applicant is for a retest. Ensure to issue A.73 as well for the retest.

A.2 Review of deficiencies identified on airman knowledge test § 61.39(a)(6)(iii), as required

This endorsement tells a DPE that you (the instructor) has reviewed an applicant's knowledge exam deficiencies.


STUDENT PILOT ENDORSEMENTS


A.3 Pre-solo aeronautical knowledge § 61.87(b)

A prerequisite for student solo.

A.4 Pre-solo flight training § 61.87(c)(1) and (2)

Another prerequisite for student solo.
This should be issued to the student with A.6 for initial solo flight.

A.6 Solo flight (first 90-calendar-day period) § 61.87(n)

This is for INITIAL Solo Flight. Ensure your student has this endorsement before going for the first solo.
Any student requiring additional solo flight needs to have A.7 Endorsement instead.

A.7 Solo flight (each additional 90-calendar-day period) § 61.87(p)

This is for REPEATING Solo Flight. If your student needs additional solo past 90 days from the initial solo, use this endorsement.

A.8 Solo takeoffs and landings at another airport within 25 nautical miles (NM) § 61.93(b)(1)

Use this endorsement ONLY if your student requires to take-off and land from other than base airports within 25NM.
Remember that this endorsement is not valid unless A.6 or A.7 is issued.

A.9 Solo cross-country flight § 61.93(c)(1) and (2)

This endorsement is for ALL solo cross-country.
The difference between this and A.10 is that you issue A.10 each time when the student is going for a cross-country.
To put it simply, this endorsement is issued so the student can perform solo cross-country in given type, make, and model of an aircraft;

A.10 Solo cross-country flight § 61.93(c)(3)

This endorsement is for EACH solo cross-country.
Use this endorsement after reviewing student's cross-country flight plan and student preparation of the solo flight.


PRIVATE PILOT ENDORSEMENTS


A.32 Aeronautical knowledge test §§ 61.35(a)(1), 61.103(d), and 61.105

For Private Pilot Written Exam.
Do NOT use this endorsement for retest; this is for initial testing only.
For retest, students should receive their written endorsement on their previous written exam report.

A.33 Flight proficiency/practical test §§ 61.103(f), 61.107(b), and 61.109

For Private Pilot Practical Test.
Ensure A.1 and/or A.2 is also issued with this endorsement for the private pilot checkride.


COMMERCIAL PILOT ENDORSEMENTS


A.34 Aeronautical knowledge test §§ 61.35(a)(1), 61.123(c), and 61.125

For Commercial Pilot Written Exam.
Do NOT use this endorsement for retest; this is for initial testing only.
For retest, students should receive their written endorsement on their previous written exam report.

A.35 Flight proficiency/practical test §§ 61.123(e), 61.127, and 61.129

For Commercial Pilot Practical Exam.
Ensure A.1 and/or A.2 is also issued with this endorsement for the commercial pilot checkride.


INSTRUMENT RATING ENDORSEMENTS


A.38 Aeronautical knowledge test §§ 61.35(a)(1) and 61.65(a) and (b)

For Instrument Rating Written Exam.
Do NOT use this endorsement for retest; this is for initial testing only.
For retest, students should receive their written endorsement on their previous written exam report.

A.39 Flight proficiency/practical test § 61.65(a)(6)

For Instrument Rating Practical Exam.
Ensure A.1 and/or A.2 is also issued with this endorsement for the instrument rating checkride.


FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR ENDORSEMENTS


A.41 Fundamentals of instructing knowledge test § 61.183(d)

For FOI Written Exam.
Do NOT use this endorsement for retest; this is for initial testing only.
For retest, students should receive their written endorsement on their previous written exam report.

A.42 Flight instructor aeronautical knowledge test § 61.183(f)

For CFI-A Written Exam.
Do NOT use this endorsement for retest; this is for initial testing only.
For retest, students should receive their written endorsement on their previous written exam report.

A.43 Flight instructor ground and flight proficiency/practical test § 61.183(g)

For CFI-A Practical Exam.
Ensure A.1 and/or A.2 is also issued with this endorsement for the commercial pilot checkride.

A.44 Flight instructor certificate with instrument(category/class) rating/practical test §§ 61.183(g) and 61.187(a) and (b)(7)

For CFI-I Practical Exam.
Ensure A.1 and/or A.2 is also issued with this endorsement for the commercial pilot checkride.


ADDITIONAL ENDORSEMENTS


A.65 Completion of a flight review § 61.56(a) and (c)

For Flight Review.
Remember that you (the instructor) is the one who signs off the applicant of the flight review.

A.67 Completion of an instrument proficiency check (IPC) § 61.57(d)

For Instrument Proficiency.
Remember that you (the instructor) is the one who signs off the applicant of the proficiency.
BE VIGILANT!

A.68 To act as PIC in a complex airplane § 61.31(e)

For any student pursuing complex airplane.
Remember that your student CANNOT log any PIC unless this endorsement has given by an instructor.

A.72 To act as PIC of an aircraft in solo operations when the pilot does not hold an appropriate category/class rating § 61.31(d)(2)

This endorsement is usually needed for any student holding single-engine rating pursuing multi-engine rating.
This endorsement usually goes with A.68 if student is pursuing commercial pilot, airplane multi-engine rating.

A.73 Retesting after failure of a knowledge or practical test § 61.49

Endorsement for any applicant for retesting after a failure. Note that A.1 may be required if applicant lapsed more than 2 calendar months since last training.
